NEWTON AYCLIFFE POLICE STATION UNDER THREAT

I have  recently been informed  by the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) ,  that only some of our Aycliffe Police team are going to be based in the town and most other officers, including the response team will be based in Bishop Auckland. I have told her that this is totally unacceptable and stressed the importance that we need to retain the full team of response and neighbourhood teams in Aycliffe town centre.

Whilst I am intensely frustrated that the Police team have allowed it to get to this situation, we need cooperation from all to find a way forward.

Whether it is the PCC, the Police Chief, the Fire Brigade, Durham County Council or Great Aycliffe Town Council, all parties need to positively engage to help resolve this. I call upon them all to do so.

Newton Aycliffe is the third biggest urban area in County Durham, and it is getting let down by a lack of estates strategy by the Labour PCC. Newton Aycliffe should not be left with a police presence that is equivalent to a small housing estate. I am pleased to be working Cllr Robert Potts - Conservative candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner - as he is supportive of this campaign.

The following petition is to enable people to show the importance people of Aycliffe attach to their Police team, please help us by signing up.
