I donโt know about you, but I donโt think itโs right that there are currently no laws which directly concerns the distribution of tips as between employers and their workers. 
In terms of legal ownership: tips and gratuities which are paid directly to the employer are presently the legal property of the employer. I think this is grotesquely unfair! 
Thatโs why I was pleased to speak in support of the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Bill. 
Once enacted all employers will be required to ensure that all tips, gratuities and service charges they receive or exercise control over are paid to workers without deductions and by the end of the following month. 
It is estimated that around one million people working in the hospitality and tourism sectors will benefit financially to the tune of ยฃ200 per year each.
