It was a pleasure to chair the final session of the cross-party All-Party Parliamentary Group for left behind neighbourhoods’ inquiry into levelling up.

Working with experts, we explored gaps in levelling up investment in left behind places.

The session examined the Levelling Up White Paper objective to empower local leaders and communities, especially in those places lacking local agency.

I am incredibly proud of the work carried out by the APPG in recent months. Our most recent inquiry has assessed the extent to which the White Paper’s policy programme aligns with the needs and aspirations of people who live in the most deprived or areas, and identified what transformational improvements are needed to level up over the long term.

I look forward to reading the latest report and submitting it to Government.
