STILLER VISIT
I had a great time touring Stiller Warehousing and Distribution last week.
Stiller has an interesting backstory. Its founder, Gunter Stiller, was brought to the North East of England as a prisoner of war, during his service in the German infantry in World War II.
Following his capture, Gunter was struck by the kindness and hospitality of the people in the North East and so decided to make our region his home. He bought a truck in 1954 and this was the moment Stiller was born.
In 1986, Gunter retired and his son, Paul, took over as Managing Director, enhancing Stiller’s reputation as an established force in the transport and logistics industry. Now, Paul’s son, Matthew, heads the firm, which is now a critical distributor in the just in time supply chain, providing key material supplies to local businesses.
On the visit we discussed things like expansion for the future, regulations around trailer and vehicle sizes, engagement with the Council concerning investment sites and levies faced by HGV drivers.
Overall it was a very informative visit. Thanks for having me.
