Today is International Holocaust Memorial Day, when nations join together to promote awareness of the Holocaust and its lessons for preventing future genocides. On this day in 1945 Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated.
The Holocaust showed the depth of the human capacity for evil. Learning this history is critical to honour the memory of the 6,000,000 Jews and others murdered during the Holocaust and rededicate ourselves to doing all we can to prevent future persecution, atrocities, and genocides.
It was a solemn honour to sign the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment. May we never forget those murdered at the hands of fascism.
