University is not the right path for everyone and I am keen that as a society we work towards holding apprenticeships in the same high regard as academic degrees.
Apprenticeships, therefore, are not just a great way of earning and learning at the same time, but can help businesses fill vacancies and help communities build valuable skills for the future.
That’s why it was a pleasure to welcome my constituents, Marcia Atkinson and Katie Eltringham, to Westminster this week. — to hear about the transformative impact apprenticeships have made on their own lives.
What does investment in the next generation look like? To me, it’s a commitment by local businesses to employ more apprentices like Marcus and Katie every year.
