I started the day as a supporter of the Prime Minister, and after extensive consultations with both colleagues and constituents, my support remains unchanged. While there have been several serious failings in the day-to-day management of 10 Downing Street, I do not believe that the failures of some the Prime Minister's staff should catalyse the demise of his premiership. The Prime Minister’s eyes should rightly be on running the country; his office team should have been something that he could have relied on. Fundamentally, the Prime Minister's performance throughout the pandemic and his leadership during the vaccination rollout underscore why he continues to be the right person to lead our country and the Conservative party. The Prime Minister is not perfect; nobody is. However, on the big calls, he has consistently got them all right. I will continue to work tirelessly to represent my hard-working constituents as we strive to level up our country. My mission is to always be Sedgefield's voice in Westminster, not Westminster's voice in Sedgefield.
