Today marks one year since the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
I am sure that I speak on behalf of everyone across the Sedgefield constituency in saying that our thoughts go out to His Majesty The King and all his family today.
For over seventy-years, Her late Majesty The Queen dutifully served her country and her people with distinction. Throughout her reign, Her Majesty was a rock for the nation, a point of stability around which the changing tides of history have swirled. Her commitment to service, her dedication to duty, and her great love of country serves as an ongoing example and inspiration to us all.
In 1947, the then young Princess Elizabeth made a solemn pledge, "I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service.”
Her Majesty fulfilled that promise. Thank you, Ma'am.
