RAF HALTON VISIT
I recently paid I visit to RAF Halton to see the vital training the Royal Air Force has to offer.
RAF Halton is home to basic training for regular airmen and airwomen, leadership and management training for non-commissioned officers, and various lodger units.
The Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme gives MPs (and members of the House of Lords) the opportunity to gain a first-hand insight into military life.
Parliamentarians on the scheme visit a wide variety of establishments in the service to which they are attached, meeting personnel of all ranks to learn about the realities of serving in His Majesty's Armed Forces.
The aim is to enable MPs to make a more informed and useful contribution to defence debates in the House of Commons.
The enthusiasm of the young people at RAF Halton has been absolutely brilliant. When they leave after 10 weeks, they will do things their families, their loved ones never dreamt they were able to do.
