From October 31st, a £300 Cost of Living Payment will begin arriving in the bank accounts of thousands of eligble households in Sedgefield
This payment will be the second of three payments – totalling £900 – that the UK government is providing to those on means-tested benefits, such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit, in 2023-24.
Disability payments of £150, as well as £300 in pensioner payments, are also due to be made to those eligible.
These payments will be made automatically with no need to apply or do anything to receive it, so please do not worry if yours does not arrive straight away.
To identify these payments, look out for your National Insurance number followed by your DWP COL on your bank statement. For those receiving tax credits, note that payments will be sent out from October 31st.
I know that this latest payment will be welcomed by millions of families across the country–as will further payments due over the next year. The Government has continually supported the most vulnerable with rising costs, including through record benefits and national living wage increases as well as these exceptional Cost of Living Payments.
We have been working tirelessly to ensure that people receive enough support to get them through this challenging time. Thankfully the national picture is now improving, with favourable economic forecasts and more people getting into jobs than ever before.
Nonetheless, I know that times remain difficult for many people across Sedgefield, so I welcome the Government’s renewed commitment to support hard-working families with the ongoing hardships they face.
