Today is Stress Awareness Day and I am pleased to be supporting The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) who delivered the Better Health-Every Mind Matters campaign.
This equips people to protect and improve their mental wellbeing, with a focus on early intervention which can be crucial.
The resource offers a range of simple, NHS-approved, self-care tips and tools that everyone can use and incorporate into their routines to help manage common early-stage mental health concerns.
This Stress Awareness Day, Every Mind Matters is launching a campaign to highlight how small, positive actions can have a big impact on your mental health.
Quick and easy ways you can improve your mental health:
- Getting physically active – taking 10-minute brisk walks
- Talking to someone you trust about how you’re feeling
- Getting out into nature
- Managing unhelpful thoughts and feelings - with the help of CBT-based techniques
- Improving your sleep – for example, by avoiding screens an hour before bed or getting out of bed and doing something simple, like reading a book, until you feel tired.
The Every Mind Matters website has lots of NHS-approved tips and advice to help you ‘find your little big thing’
One beneficial resource that anyone can access is a free, personalised Mind Plan – an action plan that provides practical tips to help you improve your mental wellbeing. Amazon Alexa users can simply say, ‘Alexa, start my Mind Plan’ for help today improving your sleep, easing anxiety, and boosting mental wellbeing.
