The toxic tide of abuse in politics has risen far enough. It's drowning out civil discourse, silencing diverse voices, and threatening the very foundations of our democracy. 🗳️ 🇬🇧
We can't let this stand. We can't accept a political landscape where fear trumps reason, where division drowns out dialogue, and where the loudest voices are the most hateful.
That's why I'm wholeheartedly throwing my weight behind the Jo Cox Foundation. Jo, a fellow MP tragically taken from us, saw more clearly than most the power of unity and understanding. Her foundation carries that torch, working tirelessly to build a kinder, fairer, and more respectful political discourse.
They're showing us that a different path is possible, one where political opponents can be seen as fellow citizens, not enemies. Where disagreement doesn't equate to dehumanisation. Where we can disagree passionately, yet respectfully, recognising the shared humanity that binds us together.
This isn't a partisan issue. This is about upholding the very principles of our democracy. It's about ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs, feels safe and empowered to participate. It's about making politics a place for solutions, not a breeding ground for hate.
