⛳️Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club ⛳️
Today I had the pleasure of meeting with the Minister for Sport, Tourism and Civil Society, Stuart Andrew MP, to discuss the importance of Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club and the need for ongoing support for this vital community hub.
Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club is a cherished institution in the town, providing a welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities to come together, socialise, and enjoy the sport of bowls. It is a place where friendships are forged, skills are honed, and the spirit of community thrives.
However, like many local clubs, Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club is facing challenges. The cost of maintaining the green and clubhouse is rising, and the club is struggling to attract new members, particularly young people.
During my meeting with Minister Andrew, I highlighted these challenges and emphasised the importance of Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club to our community. I also raised the issue of funding for grassroots sports clubs, which is crucial to ensuring their sustainability and ability to continue providing valuable services to local residents.
I am pleased to report that Minister Andrew was very receptive to my concerns and expressed his support for Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club. He acknowledged the role that grassroots sports clubs play in promoting physical activity, community engagement, and social cohesion.
We discussed the possibility of exploring funding opportunities from the Government's Active Partnerships Programme, which provides grants to organisations that support the development of grassroots sports and physical activity. I am hopeful that we can secure funding through this programme to help Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club thrive.
I am remain committed to continuing to work with Minister Andrew and other relevant parties to secure the necessary support for Newton Aycliffe Bowls Club. I believe that this club is an invaluable asset to our community and deserves our full backing.
