I appreciate the legislation is controversial, but it’s necessary. People are dying on these boat crossings— we simply cannot sit back and do nothing. 
Last night’s vote proves what we already knew – Labour just cannot be trusted to get tough on illegal immigration and crackdown on the the gangs that profit from it. 
Our plan is clear – if you come here illegally you will be removed. Sadly, Labour would naively embolden people smugglers through open borders & unlimited migration. 
Don’t misunderstand, the UK will always help those in real need, but it’s important to remember that legal routes exist for a very good reason.
