Congratulations to my good friend Rishi Sunak.
I am delighted to see him become our new party leader and UK Prime Minister. I know he has what it takes to provide the strong leadership we need & steer the country through some very challenging times.
Having a northern MP at the helm of the Government will shine a renewed focus on our need to level up our country.
As Chancellor, Rishi did so much for Darlington, its surrounding towns & villages, and the North East more broadly. I know he will deliver in just the same way as prime minister.
