It was a pleasure to join my colleagues as we welcomed the Chancellor to the North East yesterday.
The Chancellor was visiting one of Darlington’s largest local employers, Cummins, where he hailed the company as a blueprint for high-quality job creation and enterprise.
As Treasury PPS, I was able to relay some of my constituent’s feedback on the Plan for Growth to the Chancellor directly.
I understand that the Government will set out its Medium-Term Fiscal Plan on 23 November and announce further supply side growth measures in the coming weeks including on the planning system, business regulations, and immigration.
Ultimately the Government needs to deliver the economic growth that the UK needs - ensuring higher wages, greater opportunities for people in this constituency and more money for our public services without saddling families and businesses with tax rises.
