I am supporting the new All-Party Parliamentary Group on ASB inquiry into how we can make our communities safer by reducing ASB and giving organisations supporting victims more powers.
The group, which is made up of MPs from any political party and from across the country, will join Police and Crime Commissioners to review the evidence submitted by local people and use their experiences to recommend changes to government.
I meet dozens of local hardworking families whose lives are being made a nightmare by the selfish acts of a mindless minority. In all too many cases the action that can be taken against those causing these problems doesn’t go far enough and the victims of this nuisance are left frustrated. Many families up and down the country are left so frustrated by this lack of support that they feel the need to move home to get away from those who are to blame. This should not be the case and I want local people to have their say on what more should be done by feeding into this new national inquiry.
Myself and a group of cross party MPs will then use this feedback to make recommendations to government on what more they can do to help tackle this problem.
